Who is the best devil?

The Observer, who have been up close and personal with the devil once or twice in recent times, have the following gallery of popular representations of the devil, compiled by Peter Sandford (author ofThe Devil: A Biography). There are some good ones there.  Daniel Mays’ Jim Keats from Ashes to Ashes might have been another worthy inclusion. Any others which really should have been included in a Devil Top Ten?

  1. Tim Curry was particularly effective in a very impressive makeup as the Lord of Darkness in Legend (1985).

  2. Perhaps not in a Devil Top Ten, but I wonder who would be cast as Memnoch the Devil should Anne Rice’s novel be made into a movie.
